By accessing and using the Hakim Telehealth Platform ("Hakim," "we," "us," or "our"), including our website, mobile applications, and any related services (collectively, the "Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Services.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use our Services. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must create and manage the account on your behalf. By using our Services, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.
Hakim is a telehealth platform that connects patients with licensed healthcare providers for remote medical consultations, diagnoses, treatment recommendations, and prescription services. Our Services include:
You must create an account to use our Services. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update it as necessary. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
Not for Emergencies: Hakim is NOT appropriate for emergency medical situations. In case of a medical emergency, immediately call your local emergency services or go to the nearest emergency room.
Healthcare Provider Relationship: Hakim facilitates connections between patients and independent healthcare providers. The providers, not Hakim, are solely responsible for all medical advice, diagnoses, treatment recommendations, and prescriptions.
No Guarantee of Outcomes: We do not guarantee specific medical outcomes or that telehealth services will meet your expectations. The effectiveness of treatment depends on many factors beyond our control.
Our AI-powered symptom checker is for informational purposes only and is NOT a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It does not establish a doctor-patient relationship. Always seek the advice of qualified healthcare providers with any questions about a medical condition.
E-prescriptions are issued solely at the discretion of licensed healthcare providers. Hakim does not prescribe medications. You are responsible for filling prescriptions at pharmacies of your choice. We are not responsible for pharmacy availability, medication costs, insurance coverage, or side effects.
Consultation Fees: You agree to pay all applicable fees for consultations as displayed at the time of booking. Fees are determined by individual healthcare providers.
Payment Methods: We accept payments via Chapa, Telebirr, and other approved payment methods. All payments are processed securely by third-party payment processors.
Refund Policy: Cancellations made 24+ hours before the scheduled appointment receive a full refund. Cancellations made 12-24 hours before receive a 50% refund. No refunds for cancellations made less than 12 hours before or for no-shows.
If you provide insurance information, we may assist with insurance verification and claims submission. However, you remain ultimately responsible for all charges. We do not guarantee insurance coverage or reimbursement.

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPLETELY SECURE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HAKIM SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE SIX MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Hakim, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Services, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the Services at any time, with or without notice, for violations of these Terms, fraudulent activity, or any other reason. You may terminate your account at any time through account settings or by contacting us. Medical records will be retained as required by law (typically 7 years).
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated Terms on our website and/or sending an email notification. Your continued use of the Services after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ethiopia, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Services shall be resolved through good faith negotiations. If negotiations fail, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in accordance with Ethiopian arbitration laws.
